The Nikkei Matsuri was this past Sunday in San Jose’s Japantown as well as Yu-Ai Kai’s Nihonmachi Run.  For more information about the festival and where it was located click this link www.nikkeimatsuri.org

The Festival started in 1976 with America’s Bicentennial celebration when San Jose encouraged many ethnic communities to share their culture through festivals.  The Japanese American community here decided to share their culture through food and art which developed into a successful festival and is celebrating it’s 34th year.

After seeing the disaster in Japan and the aftermath, the Japanese Student Association has come together and brainstormed fundraising ideas.  Besides selling wristbands and candy we are also planning an auction/fundraising dinner for Japan.  So far in addition to the success of the wristbands and candy we have made great progress in moving forward with the dinner.
